VIPA Announces Parking Restrictions at Boynes Dock During Renovations

Motorists will be prohibited from parking in the pickup/drop off area at the Loredon L. Boynes Sr. Dock in Cruz Bay, St. John, during the Virgin Islands Port Authority’s renovation of the facility. Construction work begins Monday, February 13, 2023. A portion of the area that is used by bus and taxi services to park at the dock will be utilized by the project’s contractor to store materials and supplies for the project. VIPA will not allow vehicles to park in that area for the project's duration to reduce congestion and ensure pedestrian safety at the dock.

The renovation project at the Boynes Dock will include resurfacing the pier, installing a canopy adjacent to the existing terminal, and adding a male and female restroom and an electrical room for an emergency power generator. VIPA awarded the project to Rodriguez and Garland via a competitive bidding process. The project is expected to be completed by October 2023. The Legislature of the Virgin Islands appropriated the funding for this project, which is estimated to cost $1.5 million.

VIPA apologizes for any inconvenience caused as it works to improve the primary port of entry on St. John. The public may contact the Authority’s St. Thomas/St. John Marine Manager, Joseph Cranston Jr., with any concerns regarding operations at the facility at (340) 774-2250 or JCranston@viport.com.
