Taxi and Other Ground Transportation Services
  • Taxi rates to and from the airport and town were established by the VI Taxi Cab Commission and are approved by the Virgin Islands Legislature. Confirm your rates before getting into your taxi.

  • Official taxis in the USVI have a dome light and the letters TP on their license plate (other taxis are not officially licensed and may charge different rates not approved by the Taxi Cab Commission).

  • Many taxis carry 8 to 12 passengers in vans and only these multi-destination vans service the airport.

If you have a complaint about your taxi service be sure to get the license plate number and call the VI Taxi Cab Commission at 340-693-4211.

Off-Airport Rental Car Policy

Effective November 1, 2015, off airport rental car companies are required to register their pickups at the Cyril E. King Airport's Parking Lot Supervisor.  Operators are also required to report airport pickups monthly and pay a $1 per transaction fee.

Off-Airport Ground Transportation

Off-Airport Ground Transportation Companies are required to pay:
1.  An annual registration fee; and
2. A per trip fee for airport ramp access.

 

These fees will be charged to all private, off-airport ground transportation companies (i.e. limousine services, tour operators, taxis, baggage carriers, etc.) for use of reserved parking spaces and staging areas to pick up passengers at the airport facilities.


These companies will also pay $.50 per passenger fee to VIPA for passengers picked up at the airport. For more information, contact the CEKA Parking Lot Supervisor.

  • Traffic tickets can be paid before the court date at the Office of the Cashier located at the Superior Court.  By paying a traffic ticket before appearing in court, you are admitting that the violation occurred. Therefore, there will no longer be a need for a hearing before a Judge.

  • ​You may get the court date information from the face of the ticket or you may contact the Traffic Division at the Superior Court in the judicial district in which the traffic violation occurred.

  • ​If you fail to pay a traffic ticket, according to Super. Ct. R. 153, the Court may issue a warrant for the arrest of any defendant who has failed to appear or answer a traffic ticket or summons duly served upon him and against whom a complaint has been filed. Additionally, the traffic lien imposed according to 20 V.I. Code Ann. § 497 shall be executed.

Booted and Towed Vehicles

​

  • Vehicles left at airport lots for more than 30 days or parked illegally on any port property may be impounded at a designated VIPA impound lot. 

  • You must obtain a release before you can pick up your vehicle. Your vehicle might have been stored temporarily before moving to an impound lot.

  • ​Vehicles parked illegally will be booted and towed to a storage area. Owners/drivers are responsible for paying any towing and/or booting fees assessed to an impounded vehicle.

  • Contracted tow companies may collect both a tow fee and a daily storage fee. These fees are not negotiable and cannot be waived by any official of the Authority.

  • Boot Removal Fee: $125.00 - payable via cash, visa or master card, certified checks, or money orders only at any VIPA cashier office.

  • Impounds related to an arrest may require a district attorney's release.

  • To pay the boot fee and reclaim a vehicle, call VIPA’s Police Precinct at (340) 714-6690.

Documents required for impounded vehicle release:

  • Your receipt indicating all fines have been paid (if applicable)

  • Valid driver's license

  • Valid insurance

  • Proper ownership and registration papers

  • Agents for the owner must provide the documents listed above in addition to a notarized "Letter of Authorization" that permits the agent to claim the vehicle for the owner.​
