US Customs Begins Operation at Red Hook This Weekend

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents will begin clearing foreign arrival passenger ferries at the new checkpoint inside the Urman Fredericks Terminal in Red Hook this weekend.  The temporary operation begins just in time for the August Monday festivities in the neighboring British Virgin Islands.  CBP agents will operate on a temporary schedule beginning Aug. 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and from Aug. 5-7 they will operate from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Normal daily operations will start on Aug. 13 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Charter and private pleasure boats will continue to clear Customs at the Victor Sewer Marine Facility (“The Creek”) on St. John.  The Virgin Island Port Authority continues to work with CBP to facilitate travel and commerce for the territory.  For more information about CBP operations in the US Virgin Islands, call (340) 774-2510.
